General Studies

The UCLA Depression Grand Challenge conducts research to further scientific understanding of the causes of depression, and to develop new and more effective depression treatments. By joining a study, you can contribute to research advancing our understanding of mental health and improving mental health treatments.

Below are our research studies open to a general population. If you are pregnant or recently postpartum, see our studies specifically recruiting pregnant and postpartum women

STAND at ELAC 

STAND is an all-in-one system of mental health care initially created for UCLA students. Participants are screened for symptoms of anxiety, depression and suicidality and matched with the level of care that best meets their needs, with their care adjusted as their needs change.

STAND at ELAC refers to a version of STAND specifically customized for East Los Angeles College students. We are researching how to optimize and enhance STAND for community college students, with the ultimate goal of bringing STAND to other communities and community colleges. (IRB #22-000635)

Eligibility criteria:

  • Currently enrolled ELAC student, full or part-time
  • 18-40 years old
  • Able to understand informed consent and willing to follow study procedures
  • Able to maintain focus for various assessments
  • Either uninsured or on California Medicaid (Medi-Cal)
  • Can privately access the Internet (IRB #22-0205)
